For my games of Missile Threat, rather than using counters for missiles, I thought I'd make them.
I have opted for five different types,
-IR Seeking missiles
-Radar guilded missiles
-Air to ground missiles
-Anti ship missiles
-SAM Missiles
NEEDED!
So, you will need. . .
-Green stuff.
-0.6mm (or close to) brass wire.
-Pipe cleaners.
-Plastic rod in 1mm 1.3mm and 1.5mm sizes.
-Flying stands (I use the Medium Dropzone Commander ones)
-Vallejo Paint (not essential, but gives you idea of colours I used)
Firstly . . .
To start with, make some small balls of green stuff, put a small hole in the greenstuff, put another one opposite, and one on the underside.
The holes are for,
Once the green stuff has set I mount it on brass rod. This also makes it easier to hold when painting.
IR Seeking Missiles
Using 1mm plastic rod, cut a length about 6-7mm long and make a point at one end.
Glue into the green stuff and undercoat.
Paint missile 'Silver Grey' with a 'Carmine Red' nosecone.
Radar Guilded Missiles
Using 1mm plastic rod, cut a length about 12-14mm long and make a point at one end.
Glue into green stuff and undercoat.
Paint missile 'Silver Grey' with a 'Heavy Charcoal' nosecone.
Air-to-Ground Missiles
Using 1.3mm plastic rod, cut a length about 6-7mm long and make a point at one end.
Glue into green stuff and undercoat.
Paint missile 'Refractive Green' with a 'Heavy Charcoal' nosecone.
Anti-Ship Missiles
Using 1.5mm plastic rod, cut a length about 7-8mm long and make a point at one end.
Glue into green stuff and undercoat.
Paint missile 'Field Blue' with a 'Silver Grey' nosecone.
SAM Missiles
Using 1mm plastic rod, cut a length about 6-7mm long and make a point at one end.
Glue into green stuff and undercoat.
Paint missile 'Silver Grey' with a 'Ultramarine' nosecone.
Missile Afterburner
Paint whole blob 'German Yellow' then paint fire like streaks with 'Amaranth Red'
Finishing . . .
Clip off of brass rod (but leave a mm or two)
then glue into flying base (into a drilled hole)
All missiles I glued on level except the SAM that I glued at an angle, then glue pipe cleaner to rear for smoke trail.
